- ➤ Two Owensboro families received newly upgraded homes from the Hands Up to Succeed Project today. The non-profit provided essential furnishings and appliances — founder Alma Crump said the renovations give families a fresh start amid rising rent costs. 14 News
- ➤ Girls Inc. of Owensboro-Daviess County will host its annual Red on the River Casino Night on August 16th at The Center for Good Works at 1010 Allen St.—the event will offer food, casino games, a silent auction, a raffle for a chance to win $2,500, and a pass giveaway with the winner announced on Monday morning. - ➤ Southern Star Cares, a team-led nonprofit at Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, will begin accepting grant applications from tax-exempt organizations serving Daviess County on August 11 for grants up to $50,000. - ➤ Owensboro Sister Cities and Regions has won the Innovation in Business, Trade, and Professional Exchange Award for its Firefighter Exchange Program with sister city Olomouc—Czech Republic. Fire service leaders from Owensboro, Daviess County and nearby departments trained with Czech firefighters in fire suppression and emergency response, and a reciprocal visit will happen later in 2025. 44 News
