  • St. Benedict’s and Daniel Pitino Shelter are changing homelessness support by putting love first—forming client committees and expanding care like mental health services, stable housing and job help. Their new programs aim to rebuild trust and self-worth—giving people a chance to thrive.  The Owensboro Times
  • Dozens of volunteers gathered Saturday at the Daviess County Lions Fairgrounds to build the 1,000th bed for local children in Owensboro with each bed coming complete with a mattress, comforter, pillow, and sheets—marking a milestone for the nonprofit. The organization will continue monthly builds and is seeking more volunteers for delivery teams.  The Owensboro Times
  • Doug Martin—owner of Martin Family Farm—has grown crops for over 20 years and brings squash, zucchini, tomatoes, jalapenos, onions, potatoes, and green beans to Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market, where he also sells produce for a Masonville farmer.   • Claire's, a long-loved mall store that once marked many first ear piercings, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and plans to close about 700 stores while the Owensboro location now offers up to 60% discounts—local charities have also been affected by the loss of retail support.  WOMI Owensboro

CRIME NEWS

  • Four Evansville teenagers were arrested in Daviess County on Friday after a suspicious activity call led police to a blue car with a covered plate and masked passengers — officers found ski masks, a loaded AR-15 rifle, and a loaded 9mm handgun in the vehicle.  TriStateHomepage.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Daviess County property tax rates will likely be lowered next year after Treasurer Jordan Johnson proposed cutting the rate during Thursday night's fiscal court meeting in Henderson. The proposal would reduce the rate from 12.9% to 12.2% per $100 while keeping revenue the same, though keeping 12.9% would have raised it by 4% (vote pending).  TriStateHomepage.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today the Lady Panthers won the Paducah Tilghman Invitational by shooting 316 — a score that beat teams from seven high schools by 20 strokes. Coach Jonas Billingsley said Claire Reynolds led the team with strong play — and Baylie Billingsley helped by bouncing back on rocky holes.  The Owensboro Times
