  • Officials announced that Malibu Jack’s will transform part of the former Towne Square Mall in Owensboro into one of the largest all-indoor theme parks in the region—featuring a go kart track, laser tag arena, bowling, spinning coaster, miniature golf, bumper cars, 4D motion theatre, arcade games and a fun casual restaurant. TSM Holdings LLC received $2 million in tax incentives under the Kentucky Tourism Development Act and construction begins immediately.  TriStateHomepage.com
  • New retail developments will add Boot Barn, Buckle, Old Navy, Carter's, and Publix to Gateway Commons on Hwy 54, with stores expected to open between the end of 2025 and 2026 — a preview from developers Gulfstream Commercial Services shows a new shopping center layout.  WOMI Owensboro

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Daviess County officials are moving ahead with a $40 million expansion of the detention center — the project will add about 125 beds, expand the main building to over 100,000 square feet, and address efficiency and code issues while keeping the jail operational, with work set to take 2.5 to 3 years.  The Owensboro Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Wendell Foster is hosting the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its new Aquatic Center today from noon to 2 p.m. at Lathan Outpatient Therapy Facility—set to offer year-round aquatic therapy for individuals with disabilities in our community.  14 News
  • The Opportunity Center of Owensboro will host a Health & Wellness Resource Fair on Wednesday, September 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—attendees including those with disabilities and their support networks can use free health screenings, mental health resources, financial education tools, and group activities to boost their well-being.  14 News
