ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters identified 72-year-old Paul Kamuf as the man killed in an apartment fire on Thursday in Owensboro—crews responded just before midnight after a neighbor reported the blaze and he was taken to a Louisville hospital for burns where he died while the cause is under investigation.  TriStateHomepage.com
  • Fire crews responded to a garage fire on the 7800 block of Lyddane Bridge Road South in Owensboro at 6:00 p.m.—workers worked to keep the flames from spreading to the adjacent home as Kenergy was en route.  14 News

  • America's CAR-MART in Owensboro offers affordable used vehicles and financing options for those with credit challenges. Under general manager Melissa Henson, who took over in June, the dealership now shows improvement with better inventory and service contracts in every sale—helping rebuild its reputation among local customers.  The Owensboro Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Owensboro Community & Technical College will host a Veterinary Technology Program preadmission conference on September 9 at 5 p.m. at its Downtown Campus Veterinary Technology Teaching Hospital—where prospective students will learn about application requirements, the curriculum, and career opportunities through a guided tour.  The Owensboro Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Henderson’s Daviess County Detention Center has approved a $40 million expansion that will add 125 beds — along with a new kitchen and laundry center. Construction will take up to two years as the project moves forward after approval this week.  TriStateHomepage.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • At the Central Kentucky Run for the Gold, Apollo’s boys finished ninth while Daviess County finished 11th — the Lady Panthers came in sixth and the Lady Aces eighth. Coaches noted that runners set new personal records as they work to reach their goals.  The Owensboro Times
