ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A crash on New Hartford Road in Owensboro has closed the westbound lane on the bypass—heading to Frederica Street—until at least 3 p.m. as first responders work to clear the scene. 14 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Owensboro city commissioners are considering amending the property maintenance ordinance—this change would allow the city to cite and fine commercial developers for leaving projects incomplete. Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer
- ➤ The City Commission proposed lowering Owensboro’s real property tax rate to 25.60 cents per $100 from 26.1 cents—this reduction follows rising home values and new construction that push assessments higher. A final vote is set for September 16 and, if approved, the new rate will take effect on July 1 for the upcoming fiscal year. The Owensboro Times
