A trivia night fundraiser for Imagination Library of Daviess County will take place on November 7—hosted by a local favorite offering tickets at $25 per person or $150 per team to help put books in kids' hands.
Labor Day Weekend in Owensboro brings many free events and yard sales from Friday through Monday.
Local highlights include a family street dance today and special gatherings like laundry day, car shows, and moving sales across nearby areas.
The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the Owensboro Air Show on Sept.
11-13 at the regional airport and downtown riverfront, performing precision maneuvers in F-16s. Families will also enjoy aircraft exhibits, pilot meet-and-greets, and fun activities such as food trucks + fireworks.
Labor Day weekend in the Tri-State area brings many yard sales, festivals and family events from Friday, Sept.
4 through Monday, Sept. 7, with free concerts, bargain sales and runs for all ages. Owensboro locals also enjoy community events such as family days and free admission gatherings + creative vendors.
The Owensboro Council of Labor will hold its annual Labor Day Picnic on Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ben Hawes Park, where food starts at 11:30 a.m. plus guest speakers will mark the country’s 250th anniversary.

A project developer announced a $4B data center in Hancock County that will come online in 2027.
The facility is expected to boost tech business in the region.
TeraWulf plans an AI data center in Hancock County that will revitalize the former Century Aluminum smelter and create about 300 jobs, generating $536.8M in local tax revenue over 20 years & spurring economic opportunities.
The first buildings are set for delivery in the third and fourth quarters of 2027.

Tonight, four local high school football games will kick off as Owensboro Catholic faces Apollo, Daviess County plays Owensboro, Hancock County meets Ohio County, and McLean County hosts Grayson County; teams+coaches hope to build on recent wins and improve their records.
The Red Devils won 6-0 over Apollo today after Coach Ryan Haley shifted rotations when three starters were out (Patrick Alexander scored twice and Peter Mbayo registered a hat trick).
Daviess County Panthers edged Owensboro Catholic 2-0 with key plays by Silas Goebel and Avery Dilger.
