- ➤ The United Way of the Ohio Valley will distribute $180,000 in Impact grants and raise the maximum award to $30,000 to help nonprofits reduce poverty—eligible agencies in counties including Daviess, Hancock, McLean, Ohio, Union, and Webster must submit a letter of intent by September 26. - ➤ Malone Workforce Solutions said its Owensboro office is growing as it adds new recruiters to meet client demand—doubling its team and investing in training and technology—even though staffing is slowing nationally. The Owensboro Times

- ➤ The Owensboro Museum of Science and History will host a symposium called 'Civil War Guerrillas in Kentucky' at 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at 122 E. Second St.—a panel of historians including Derrick Lindow, Gerald Fischer, Dr. Tom Sabetta, and Bryan Bush will explore the impact of guerrilla warfare during the Civil War. The Owensboro Times
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ William Jewell took an early lead in a nonconference game Saturday and beat Kentucky Wesleyan 48 to 21 on the road — quick strikes and turnovers put the win out of reach. Kentucky Wesleyan briefly rallied before halftime but will return home next Saturday to Steele Stadium — the loss leaves them with an 0-2 record. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Daviess County’s girls’ golf team finished fifth at the All State Championships—shooting 72 over par in a two-day tournament held at University Club and Big Blue. Head Coach Jonas Billingsley said the team overcame challenges on key holes and will compete in the Region tournament next Monday at Henderson County Club. The Owensboro Times
