- ➤ Owensboro city officials reported that lane closures began on September 16 for utility work on the westbound lane of East Parrish Avenue near McFarland Avenue and on McFarland Avenue from Old Henderson Road to West Parrish Avenue—drivers must follow the detour via Carter Road. - ➤ The IRS will close its Owensboro Taxpayer Assistance Center at the Frederica Street offices on November 30—according to a sign posted on the door. TriStateHomepage.com
- ➤ Owensboro residents can now legally raise up to six female chickens under a new ordinance passed 3-2 by the city council, marking the first time in three decades that backyard chickens are allowed—owners must keep coops at least 40 feet from their homes and pay a $25 permit fee while swine remain banned. 44 News
- ➤ The Daviess County Attorney’s office will hire its first county detective on October 1 to manage evidence, investigate citizen complaints, and serve as a link with local law enforcement—County Attorney John Burlew said the state-funded hire will help ease a heavy workload and may later expand.
