- ➤ The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office planted extra patrols on the U.S. 60 bypass after a fatal crash took two lives and issued over 40 citations in three days for speeding and for not using turn signals—Sheriff Brad Youngman said he will share three years of data with state reps Suzanne Miles and DJ Johnson next week to determine options for improving road safety. - ➤ A new wood-fired pizza restaurant led by chef Grace Shaffer opened at the Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market and makes Neapolitan-style pies from scratch to add a fine-dining twist. The family-run venture will join Pizza Week by serving its special creation Elijah’s Chariot at Windy Hollow Biscuit House from September 23-26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — a custom pizza trailer is planned for October. - ➤ Brescia University will begin accepting applications for its first physician assistant cohort on Oct. 1—classes are set to start in August 2026. Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer
- ➤ Brescia University in Owensboro is marking 100 years since it began as Mount Saint Joseph Junior College for Women—founded by the Ursuline Sisters—and 75 years as a university today. - ➤ An Owensboro Public Schools teacher resigned after a review of Facebook comments about Charlie Kirk’s death raised concerns over classroom disruption. A district official confirmed the resignation on Wednesday afternoon before any further disciplinary action was taken. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Owensboro High School senior Macy Critchelow was selected as a Supreme Court Justice in the Kentucky Youth Assembly and will serve at the upcoming conference from November 22–24—she founded the school’s Y Club to open statewide participation.
