- ➤ Many yard sales and local events are planned across the tri-state region this weekend for bargain hunters looking to score great finds. In Owensboro, the Flea Market is open today while the Daviess County Public Library will host a craft fair in its Reading Garden tomorrow — with additional multi-family and estate sales happening nearby. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The RWRA will soon test the downtown sanitary sewer system using non-toxic smoke to check for breaks, defects and stormwater connection issues in an area bordered by East 2nd Street, Clay Street, East 9th Street and Dixie Court. Residents will receive about two weeks' notice before testing begins and are advised to pour water down drains to help keep the smoke out of their property & report any smoke entering a building. - ➤ The contractor said Owensboro's Glover Cary Bridge—known as the Blue Bridge—will remain closed longer than the expected 90 days because of ongoing supply chain issues, and KYTC engineers are working to resolve shortages so repairs can be finished soon. Drivers must use the U.S. 231 William H. Natcher Bridge to cross the Ohio River until the bridge is back in service. 44 News
- ➤ County Judge Executive Charlie Castlen did not approve the second set of names from KDLA and recommended lawyer Tim Kline to replace outgoing board president Susan Montalvo Gesser on the library board. Castlen emailed his recommendation to Fiscal Court commissioners on Thursday morning—giving them one week to review it before a vote is held. The Owensboro Times
