SAVI hosted its fifth annual Blindfold Bowling Tournament last weekend at Southern Lanes where sighted bowlers used rails to mimic the experience of visually impaired athletes (eight teams competed with Owensboro Lions Club winning first).

Proceeds from the event will support SAVI’s programs for visually impaired individuals in local counties.

The store will host a soft opening next Friday at 103 West 3rd Street — it will offer drinks, snacks, and more items to meet residents' needs.

Donatos’ Parrish Avenue location swept two Pizza Week awards for its Triple Triple Double pizza—earning the Dough$ Maker prize for selling the most traditional pizzas and the People’s Slice award through the community vote.

The pizzeria layered the 12-inch thin-crust pizza with a garlic Parmesan base, deli-shaved ham, chicken, bacon, smoked provolone, mozzarella and Romano, finished with ranch and Mike’s Hot Honey drizzles.

Local artists and students are invited to submit ideas for Phase II of Amped Up Artistry— a public art project turning traffic signal boxes into canvases that reflect Owensboro's heritage.

Multiple agencies conducted a full-scale emergency response exercise at Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport on Tuesday afternoon to test the airport’s crisis plan—live demonstrations and interactive scenarios evaluated first responder performance during the critical golden hour. On September 30, the Owensboro girls soccer team won 8—0 over Ohio County as LP Early recorded a hat trick and Lily Nieman broke the school record by scoring twice and assisting three times, while McLean County lost 2—1 to Webster County when Hannah Smith scored from a corner kick. McLean coach Ricky Humphrey said his team will focus on the District Tournament this Saturday.

In two 9th district volleyball matchups, Apollo defeated Daviess County 3—0, Owensboro Catholic beat Owensboro 3—0, and Hancock County won 3—0 against McLean County.

Apollo coach Mary Howard said her team played hard from the first point—moving well on defense and serving aggressively—as they wrapped up district play.
