  • The Third Annual Prine Park Birthday Bash will be held on Sunday, October 12 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at John Prine Memorial Park at Rochester Dam (Drakesboro) to observe singer John Prine’s birthday and John Prine Month in Muhlenberg County. The event, themed Birds of a Feather in honor of Prine’s love for the state bird, will feature an open mic, birthday treats, giveaways, a silent auction, and food trucks.  14 News

  • Lottery officials said a $1M Powerball ticket sold in July at the Kroger on Starlite Drive in Owensboro remains unclaimed — the winner must claim the prize by January 3 and contact the Kentucky Lottery.  14 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials at the Owensboro Daviess County Regional Airport said operations have continued normally amid a federal shutdown because its control tower is privately run. Contour Airlines said it will maintain its full flight schedule today—passengers should not expect any delays.  The Owensboro Times
  • The City of Owensboro approved the purchase of 317 Walnut Street to add parking near the new indoor sports facility. City Manager Nate Pagan said the property will serve as surface parking in the short term and offer future development options—this purchase follows ongoing construction work on the indoor facility slated to open next summer.  The Owensboro Times

  • Daviess County beat Apollo six to zero in the opening round to advance to the championship game for a 12th straight season while Owensboro returned to the 9th District Championship for the first time since 2013 with a two to zero win over Owensboro Catholic.  The Owensboro Times
