  • The H.L. Neblett Community Center opened a playground for infants and toddlers featuring age-appropriate play structures, soft-surface flooring and shaded areas — designed to ensure safety and support early development. Community leaders hosted a ribbon-cutting event earlier this month and credited IMPACT100 and the Public Life Foundation for making the project possible.  The Owensboro Times

  • Pinky’s SnowCones and Snacks closed on October 11 in Owensboro’s Baptisttown neighborhood as owner Sheila Crowe ended a 10-year run to focus on her growing catering and homemade dessert line — she plans to sell the trailer and equipment while keeping the property for her family and hopes a buyer will keep the stand in the community.  The Owensboro Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Owensboro Photography Club is showcasing its annual exhibit at Kolok Gallery at KWC’s Ralph Center with a reception and awards presentation at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow—displaying 29 photos by seven local photographers in uniform black frames—and it will be open to the public during college hours through November 5.  The Owensboro Times
  • Downtown Owensboro welcomes Bloktoberfest today as local businesses offer craft brews, food, and live music beginning at noon—The Pub on Second, Brew Bridge, and Henderson Brewing Co. serve locally brewed drinks while pizza from Mellow Mushroom and bratwursts from Brasher’s Lil’ Nashville add to the festive fall vibe.  The Owensboro Times

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • The Ignite marriage conference will be held November 15 at Pleasant Valley Community Church in partnership with Grace Marriage and will offer new curriculum with space for up to 200 couples. The half-day event runs from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.—registration will cost $45 per couple and include coffee, snacks, lunch, and limited childcare.  The Owensboro Times

  • Daviess County Panthers beat Meade County 6-0 today as Saw Mu scored a hat trick—pushing the team to face Ohio County tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Hancock Co. Hornets ended a skid of two games with a 47—6 win over the McLean Co. Cougars, marking a strong bounce back at home.  TriStateHomepage.com
  • JaQuar Johnson, a high school football player injured during a game at North Central High School in Farmersburg, is stable and recovering after being airlifted off the field with imaging tests showing no major injury—officials said the game was called late in the third quarter.  TriStateHomepage.com
