- ➤ Brandon Gilles was elected president of the Daviess County Farm Bureau in August, making him the youngest person to lead the group in its 103-year history — he said he will build on his family's legacy by supporting new education and scholarship projects. The Owensboro Times

- ➤ Kentucky Wesleyan College will host the Czech choir Ateneo from Palacky University on October 28 at 7 p.m. in the Jack Wells Activity Center as part of the Owensboro Sister Cities collaboration—both choirs will perform pieces including a Czech anthem and an arrangement of 'My Old Kentucky Home,' with entry free and open to the public. - ➤ The RyR Endurance Team is preparing for its second annual race weekend scheduled for Nov. 15—16 in Owensboro where runners will compete in distances from a 5K to a 50K ultra marathon, with proceeds benefiting Wendell Foster in memory of Georgia Claire Powell. Organizers hope local participants join the event on the David C. Adkisson Greenbelt at Horse Fork Creek Park and will accept registration through race morning. The Owensboro Times
