  • Friends of Sinners will host its 16th annual banquet on November 11 at Grand Stable Venue, 7735 KY 144 starting at 6 p.m.—the event will feature guest speaker Dr. James Edwards, music, dinner and client testimonies that highlight redemption and recovery. The fundraiser supports the nonprofit’s Christ-centered addiction recovery facilities that rely on community donations.  The Owensboro Times
  • Owensboro's Lure Seafood and Grill will offer $20 meals to federal employees affected by the government shutdown, with options like Cajun shrimp and grits available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Employees must show proof of employment to dine.  44 News

  • Joyfull Java and Juice is adding a new pickup window so customers can order online and drive through for fresh meals and coffee drinks. Owner Ashley Webb said the update expands her growing menu at 3811 KY 54—meeting the needs of busy families and drivers.  The Owensboro Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum will start its fourth semester group lessons on November 4, offering weekly Tuesday classes in fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, and bass for students with basic skills at a tuition of $75 with discounts for additional family members. The program will end with a community performance at a local nursing home on December 16 and the museum also announced new private music teachers Randall Howard and Brayden Hood.  The Owensboro Times
  • Four schools from the Tri-State competed in the state marching band championships—held at Western Kentucky University’s L.T. Smith Stadium in Bowling Green on Saturday—while Owensboro Catholic Bands finished fourth in Class A, Hancock County Hornet Marching Band ended in second place in Class 2A, and Daviess County High School Band of Pride along with Madisonville North Hopkins Marching Maroons placed second and fifth respectively.  TriStateHomepage.com

  • The Owensboro Times is asking locals to vote for its Players of the Week — each team can have only one athlete nominated and votes must be in by 5 p.m. Wednesday. Voters may cast multiple ballots for top male and female athletes from sports like soccer, cross country, volleyball, and football.  The Owensboro Times
  • On Sunday, Special Olympics Kentucky held its Area 2 bowling tournament at Diamond Lanes South in Owensboro, giving athletes from age eight to 85 a chance to compete for a state trophy—local high school volunteers helped manage the lanes. Top finishers will qualify for the state tournament in December in Louisville.  14 News
