  • Green River Area Development District will host its 16th annual Community Blood Drive on Thursday where donors will receive a free mini physical screening that checks cholesterol, infectious diseases, blood type and liver enzymes, and a free long-sleeved Halloween T-shirt; all donors must meet eligibility requirements (at least 17 years old or 16 with parental consent and weighing at least 115 pounds with a medication check).  14 News

  • The Greater Owensboro Music Commission met Monday to review the region’s first music census and decide on key steps to boost the local music scene (about 15 community members attended). EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kentucky Wesleyan College faculty voted to shift from a three credit hour structure to a new four credit hour model starting in fall 2027; the system will let students focus on deeper engagement and hands-on learning by taking fewer courses each semester—officials said the change is meant to simplify academic planning and build the core skills employers seek.  TriStateHomepage.com

  • Daviess County officials paused acceptance of new group living center applications for one year to tackle rising homelessness and drug addiction concerns, as many centers are used by non-residents for temporary shelter—officials plan to review accountability measures to ease the strain on local resources as winter approaches.
