  • The Green River Area Development District is preparing for its 14th Silver Bells program—accepting donations to bring holiday cheer to residents in personal care facilities across its seven-county service area.  Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer
  • Beginning tomorrow from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Oasis Southwest Grill in Madisonville will offer free kids’ meals of a hot dog and applesauce for children 12 and under—parents must ask for a manager in the drive thru while other restaurants, including Owensboro Wonder Whip locations, also join the offer during the SNAP suspension.  TriStateHomepage.com

  • WBKR’s 49th Annual Christmas Wish program now has a new office in the former Big Lots space at Towne Square North and invites families in need to submit detailed wish letters electronically or by mail to 3301 Frederica Street.   • Today in Owensboro, local families can enjoy Halloween festivities as the Legion Park Candy Crawl runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.—the H.L. Neblett Center hosts a trunk or treat event from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a costume party takes place at the Edge Ice Center from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  14 News

  • Owensboro Community and Technical College hosted a special breakfast for KCTCS President Ryan Quarles on Friday morning—he said that building a strong workforce is a top priority for the college system.  Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Officials cut the ribbon on Thursday for a renewable natural gas facility at the West Daviess County Landfill in Owensboro that converts landfill gas into renewable natural gas—reducing greenhouse gas emissions and generating revenue to help lower county rates.  44 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cougars ended the season today with a 44-7 win over Ohio County as McLean County scored six rushing touchdowns; they will travel to Crittenden County next Friday—Coach Wagner said the win was a fitting end for the seniors.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Panthers came back in the fourth quarter—scoring 20 unanswered points to win 34-28 over Apollo after trailing early. Daviess County will now head to the playoffs while Apollo will host Barren County next.  The Owensboro Times
