- ➤ Governor Andy Beshear announced that Kentucky will ban concentrated 7-hydroxymitragynine — the chemical found in the kratom plant that can lead to dangerous overdoses. The new law will let officials remove unsafe products from stores and comes as overdose deaths have dropped, including a 30% fall last year — a measure aimed at keeping Kentuckians safe. WDRB
