  • The City of Owensboro will start its Hometown Christmas celebrations on November 21 at 5 p.m. with a tree lighting ceremony that features a Dancing Lights display along the riverfront, Veterans Boulevard, and Blue Bridge—local favorites like Energy on Ice and Breakfast with Santa will also return.  44 News
  • Barrel Heads Liquor Market and Tasting Bar is hosting its Pour It Forward: Food Bank Edition event to fight food insecurity in Owensboro, having raised over $10,000 while aiming for $15,000 to unlock rare bourbon releases — donations in food or cash are accepted until the fundraiser ends today at 5:55 p.m.  WOMI Owensboro

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tensions remain at the Daviess County animal shelter as officials, former staff, and community members dispute claims of mass euthanasia and poor care, with a controversial text exchange and public records sparking heated debate. County officials and ITV countered these claims by stressing that euthanasia has been rare since their takeover—data from April to October show fewer than 10 animals were euthanized per 100 intakes.  The Owensboro Times
  • A contractor for KYTC will implement a major traffic shift on KY 54 in Owensboro on Sunday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., blocking left and turning lanes from Heartland Crossing Boulevard to Bold Forbes Way. The shift ends Phase One and starts Phase Two of the $23.3 million widening project, letting crews begin building a new westbound lane once weather permits.  TriStateHomepage.com
  • The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet expects work zone construction and maintenance in several counties from November 16 to 22, 2025—projects include ditching, mowing and guardrail work that could cause lane closures or delays.
