Today, the Daviess County Fire Department will present a check at 9 a.m. to Christmas Wish at their Owensboro headquarters—located in the former Big Lots building in Town Square North—as the program opens and invites families to donate used video games to help fulfill children's wishes.

The Daniel Pitino Shelter opens its White Flag emergency warming shelter today through Friday as below-freezing temperatures and wind chills prompt the shelter to provide meals, free transportation via Owensboro Transit System, and overnight space for men, women & children at 501 Walnut Street from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night, coordinated by Daviess County Emergency Management and the Homeless Coalition of Ohio Valley.
