  • Dairy Queen and Owensboro Off-Road Jeepers will host breakfast with Santa and a toy drive for local families on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Frederica Street (an event to spread holiday cheer).  WOMI Owensboro
  • The Daviess County Fire Department raised $31,500 at its flagship fundraiser (the 12th Annual Christmas Wish Golf Scramble) in September, helping to provide Christmas gifts and meals for families in need.   • Owensboro Community and Technical College is expanding its Automotive Technology program with new Hybrid+Electric Vehicle Technology and Computer Control Systems Diagnostics courses offered this semester at the New Hartford Road campus. HEALTH NEWS

  • Daviess County Fiscal Court approved $50,000 (from donated funds) on Thursday to support a low-cost spay/neuter program at the county shelter. ITV will soon open appointments for local residents, offering surgeries that cost up to $25 per pet over up to 50 service days.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Owensboro High School and Owensboro Catholic High School will play in separate championship football games this weekend at Kroger Field, marking the city’s first title chase since 1986. Local fans are uniting with pep rallies and school visits to support both teams.  The Owensboro Times
  • Owensboro Catholic will play Lexington Christian Academy at 4 p.m. ET in the state Class 2A football finals at Kroger Field, hoping to win its first title after two near misses.
