- ➤ St. Mary of the Woods School and Trinity High School began construction today on a new building across Franklin Street to add 100 seats to the current 400-student capacity. Community donations contributed $12.5 million pledged and $8 million on hand, and the facility is set to open in 2028. 14 News
- ➤ Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro announced a new consortium with the McNeil Center for Early American Studies to boost undergraduate research in early American history and civics. The partnership gives students and faculty access to archival resources and research opportunities on campus. 44 News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Owensboro hosts the Grind Session high school basketball tournament that has drawn 3 to 4 thousand visitors and is estimated to add $453,000 to local business. The 3.5-day event will run until Sunday at Owensboro Sportscenter (officials say it boosts local jobs and hotels). 14 News
- ➤ Owensboro Catholic football seniors lost 33-28 to Lexington Christian Academy at Kroger Field in their third straight game — they finish with a 50-9 record and three Class 2A championship appearances, marking them as the program's winningest class. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Owensboro High School's Evan Hampton (the first Red Devil to win the honor) was named the Gatorade KY Football Player of the Year on Friday after a record season that saw him rush for 1,927 yards.
