  • Real Hacienda on Frederica Street is set to launch its new Sunrise Breakfast Buffet on Dec. 20 with American and Mexican dishes for weekend mornings, offering special pricing and Santa Claus visits from 10 a.m. to noon, and will serve the buffet weekly on Fridays through Sundays.  The Owensboro Times

  • Owensboro's West Kentucky Film Commission invites homeowners to offer their properties as film locations by submitting a form on Facebook after the premiere of Bachelor Santa at RiverPark Center + the move is set to boost the region's appeal for future projects.  WOMI Owensboro

ECONOMY NEWS

  • According to World Atlas, grocery bills average $255 a week in Kentucky while Hoosiers pay $239. Local consumers can see the $16 difference may add up over time & highlight regional pricing trends.  WOMI Owensboro

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Owensboro Community and Technical College will host Express Enrollment Week from Dec. 15-19 to help prospective students prepare for the Spring 2026 semester; the event runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the main campus and offers tailored advising (walk-ins welcome).  The Owensboro Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents are urged to prepare for winter weather by stocking up on essentials and checking safety equipment, including smoke detectors (recommended by the National Weather Service Paducah), to guard homes and pets against cold. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New data privacy laws in Indiana and Kentucky will go into effect Jan. 1, giving residents more control over their personal data. The Consumer Data Protection Act lets locals ask companies to delete, opt out of targeted ads, and download their stored information.  WOMI Owensboro

SPORTS NEWS

  • Andrew Emmick, a former local baseball standout who turned to strength and conditioning coaching nearly 20 years ago, is wrapping up his 16th season with the Brewers’ Triple-A affiliate Nashville Sounds (he hopes to someday coach youth ball).  The Owensboro Times
  • Owensboro High School will celebrate its 2025 KHSAA 5A Football State Champions on Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. in the North Gym. The event will feature remarks from the coaching staff + player spotlights and special recognitions, with everyone encouraged to wear red and black.  44 News
