- ➤ WinSupply is hosting its third annual Christmas tree auction for My Sister’s Keeper, a shelter for women and children. It runs until Dec. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2110 Grimes Avenue (bidders can win a fire pit or 20-quart cooler) and aims to raise $20,000. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Emil Herzog retired on Nov. 30 after 21 years as chaplain at Daviess County Detention Center, praising staff, volunteers, and donors for their support. New chaplain Jesse Harrell will continue the ministry (ensuring ongoing care for inmates and staff). The Owensboro Times

- ➤ Comedian Laurie Huff will host Huff’s HaHa Club (Home for the Holidays) at Kentucky Sound Stage, 5333 Frederica Street, at 7 p.m. on Dec. 20. The event will feature national headliners and local talent along with a fine art display by her mother, Frederica Diane Huff. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Owensboro announced its full lineup for the 2026 Air Show, taking place Sept. 11 to 13 along the riverfront and free to attend. The event features the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Army Golden Knights and top aviation teams, according to Director Tim Ross. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Bellevue Baptist Church presents 'A Christmas to Remember' free shows this weekend at 4 and 7 p.m. today and Sunday at 9 and 11 a.m. — enjoy music, storytelling, a live nativity with animals, and a festive village with cocoa and cookies at 4950 KY 56. The Owensboro Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Empowerment Academy in Owensboro has named Elizabeth Criswell-Jordan as its new operations manager as it prepares to house homeless students (ages 18–25) and offer life skills training. The facility at 1606 Ohio Street held an open house Friday and will accept referrals from local school officials. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Owensboro Catholic High School held a ceremony on Friday for its new Our Lady of the Assumption Chapel following a renovation of the former gym, with Bishop William Medley presiding. The $2.4M project, funded by a donor campaign, added a facility for worship and other student activities. The Owensboro Times
