  • Families and children enjoyed hot chocolate and photos with Santa during Wednesday evening's Shop with a Cop event at the Walmart garden along Kentucky 54. The program aims to help families prepare for Christmas.  Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer
  • The Owensboro-Daviess County Senior Community Center is offering Lunch Bunch events for residents 60 and older, serving meals at 11:30 a.m. at 1650 W. Second St. and select satellite sites on weekdays. Membership is free with a suggested donation of $1.50 per meal.  WOMI Owensboro
  • Emerson Academy in Owensboro is giving out food boxes ($125 worth of essentials) to students in need as part of its Season of Service. The initiative collects donations to provide families with balanced meals for 10 days during the holiday season.  44 News

  • A study shows that Christmas light displays in Kentucky can raise electric bills this holiday season; typical incandescent setups add about $18.73 while LED displays cost only $2.77, and heavy use could add over $540.58+ residents may lower costs by choosing energy-efficient lights.  WOMI Owensboro

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Micro Wrestling Federation is returning to Owensboro on Saturday, January 17 at the Convention Center. The event for all ages offers tickets (starting at $24.99 and $46.99) and promises action-packed micro-wrestling matches by energized performers.  WOMI Owensboro
