  • Local residents can register yard sales for the season through a new online guide shared weekly on Thursdays. The guide helps neighbors list garage, yard, or estate sales so treasure hunters know where to shop as spring cleaning nears.  WOMI Owensboro
  • Daviess County residents, businesses and institutions can securely shred up to 100 pounds of confidential documents at the Owensboro Sportscenter parking lot on Friday, Mar. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Piranha Mobile Shredding is offering the free service.  14 News
  • Brasher's Lil Nashville will host its first-ever pre-derby hobby horse race on May 2nd at 2 p.m. on Second Street in downtown Owensboro (participants must be over 21 to enter for $10), offering prizes for categories such as Best Dressed Jockey.  WOMI Owensboro
  • Gunner, a boxer mix who was previously adopted and returned, has been waiting 650 days at the It Takes a Village shelter in Owensboro for a forever home. His adoption fee is sponsored so new owners cover only the microchip fee ($15) and he is good with kids and dogs.  WOMI Owensboro

  • Owensboro officials plan to submit a USD/HUD grant application today to fund projects after Tuesday's board approval; the request aims to stabilize 500 feet of downtown riverbank, develop the 121-acre Massie industrial site, and build The Landing entrepreneurship center in the historic Turley Building.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Carolina Jones won the girls’ high jump today at the KHSAA Class 1A State Indoor Track Field Championships (she cleared 4-10.00 and set a school record) despite limited practice from her basketball schedule.  The Owensboro Times
  • The 3rd Region Boys Basketball Tournament kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. with Daviess County facing Breckinridge County and a potential collision between Daviess and Grayson counties, while Trinity (Whitesville) and Apollo return to tournament play on Thursday.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Daviess County Lady Panthers beat Muhlenberg County 52-30 today as they advanced to the 3rd Region Tournament semi-finals. Kennedy Lane scored 22 points & the team will return Friday to face Meade County.  The Owensboro Times
