- ➤ Leaders and members of our community celebrated 65 years of Rooster Booster — a monthly breakfast in the Chambers — on Thursday morning where past and present speakers recalled how its ideas helped shape local projects. - ➤ UniFirst broke ground on a $28 million expansion of its Distribution and Fulfillment Center in Owensboro on Thursday to add 109,000 square feet and improve operations. The project will include robotics — smart conveyor systems and a high-tech shipping sortation system — to boost order accuracy, with partial occupancy expected by October and full completion in early 2026. - ➤ Today, Unifirst began a $28 million expansion at its facility near MidAmerica Airpark to add more than 109,000 square feet and new technology such as smart conveyors and robotics. - ➤ An Owensboro man (27-year-old William Merriweather) was arrested Wednesday on charges of fentanyl dealing and firearm possession after a search warrant on Gardendale Avenue led officers to seize fentanyl pills, synthetic marijuana, cash and guns. 44 News
- ➤ On March 26, Owensboro Police arrested 27-year-old William Merriweather, a two-time convicted robbery felon, after a search on Gardendale Avenue uncovered fentanyl, synthetic marijuana, cash, a 9mm handgun and an AR-style rifle, and he now faces charges for trafficking in controlled substances and firearm possession by a convicted felon.
