- ➤ Food for the Soul, a grassroots initiative started by Charisse Varner, is serving hot meals across Owensboro again; volunteers now prepare meals at the Salvation Army & deliver food monthly to Tent City and extended-stay sites while the group works toward nonprofit status and seeks additional volunteers and storage space. - ➤ Firefighters responded shortly before 8 a.m. Friday when a carport caught fire at 7600-block of Highway 2830 after a homeowner finished mowing, and they quickly extinguished the flames before the blaze spread to a nearby garage. 14 News
