COMMUNITY NEWS

  • OVG will host the 11th Annual Mother’s Day Brunch at the Convention Center on May 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—guests will enjoy a chef-crafted buffet, a photo booth, and door prizes while mothers receive a complimentary gift and adults pay $30, children ages 6-12 pay $15, with children 5 and under admitted free.  The Owensboro Times

CRIME NEWS

  • On July 25th, 1980, a volunteer firefighter saw a house on fire near Knottsville and when firefighters extinguished the flames they uncovered the naked remains of 24-year-old Terri Howell — buried quickly before she was identified — leaving investigators with missing evidence and few witnesses in a case that remains unsolved.  The Owensboro Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • School updates for today show that Daviess County Public Schools, Ohio County Public Schools, Owensboro Catholic Schools, and Owensboro Public Schools are in session. McLean County Public Schools will be closed through Wednesday—Hancock County Public Schools and Hancock Christian Academy have not yet provided updates.  The Owensboro Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Sunday, Henderson emergency management crews surveyed flood damage and urged residents in Henderson City and County—along with Robards and Corydon—to complete a FEMA assistance form with photos so officials can assess damage and direct aid.  44 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Twin sisters Andrea and Amber Boarman will open Speech Therapy Services in Owensboro this spring at 3520 New Hartford Road Suite 305 in the Family Enterprise building to serve children and adults with speech and language therapy. They are accepting Medicare patients while finalizing additional insurance coverage — an open house is planned for May.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Local sports fans are invited to vote for the OT Players of the Week for Spring 2025 Week 4, with one player per team allowed on the ballot. Voting will end at 5 p.m. Wednesday—eligible choices include top male and female athletes from teams such as Apollo, Daviess County, Hancock County, Owensboro Baseball, Owensboro Catholic, and Trinity.  The Owensboro Times
  • The World Wrestling Alliance will host Over the Top at Owensboro Sportscenter on May 24 at 7 p.m. The event will feature Kentucky’s Biggest Battle Royal for the WWA Championship and a meet and greet (featuring wrestling stars such as Elias, Chris Masters, JTG, The Godfather, Crazzy Steve and Sabu) (giving fans a chance to meet their heroes).  The Owensboro Times
  • Trinity High School's Lady Raiders won the Third Region fast pitch softball title with a 2-1 victory over Owensboro Catholic on Sunday at Whitesville Community Park; the team will represent the region at the All A Classic State Tournament on May 26-27 at Jack C.
