COMMUNITY NEWS

  • More than 3,900 Kennergy customers lost power Tuesday afternoon in Daviess and surrounding counties after a farmer accidentally hit overhead lines with his equipment, breaking two poles. Crews quickly replaced the poles—restoring service for 344 customers while 12 continue without power, and the utility urged caution when operating farm machinery near power lines.  The Owensboro Times
  • Michael Bristow and his family from Owensboro flew to Atlanta to film an episode of Family Feud, fulfilling a longtime dream sparked by their mother's love for the show. They spent a full day on set with host Steve Harvey and now wait for the episode to air in February 2026—an experience that brings a piece of home to the national spotlight.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Junior League of Owensboro is partnering with Beverly’s Hearty Slice to support residents in need by providing hygiene essentials for a pizza distribution event on April 25—bags of items were collected through their Charity Ball fundraiser. League President Jennifer Vogel and organizer Travis Owsley said the effort will extend help beyond free meals and serve those facing food insecurity across Daviess County.  The Owensboro Times
  • Owensboro’s Western Kentucky Botanical Garden will hold its annual Plant & Vendor Sale on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 20 local vendors will sell plants, garden accessories, and handmade items while horticulturalists offer advice and visitors enjoy free admission.  The Owensboro Times

CRIME NEWS

  • The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help finding a suspect involved in a theft Monday morning at the Five Star store—where a man was seen stealing items and confronting customers—and the suspect left in a white SUV before deputies urged anyone with information to call.  14 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Daviess County High School named longtime girls soccer coach David Sandifer as its next athletic director; he will officially start on July 1 and oversee all athletic programs. Sandifer posted a 312-157-33 record over 23 years and won nine regional championships — his appointment honors a career focused on putting students first.  The Owensboro Times
  • Daviess County High School named David Sandifer — who coached girls' soccer for 23 years — as its new Athletic Director. He will assume the role on July 1.  44 News
  • More than 40 local high school students will attend Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs, Governor’s Scholars Program, and Governor’s School for the Arts. The programs offer a three-week residential entrepreneurship course at Northern Kentucky University, a summer academic residency, and intensive arts classes — providing these students with key skills for the future.  The Owensboro Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Yesterday, Owensboro Health Regional Hospital hosted a dramatic crash simulation—Ghost Out—aimed at showing local students the real dangers of impaired driving. The event started at 9:30 a.m. at Owensboro High School’s parking lot and continued at 10:30 a.m. at the hospital.  The Owensboro Times
