COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hundreds of vintage cars and their crews will stop overnight on Tuesday, June 24 along Veterans Boulevard in Owensboro as part of the nine-day Hemmings Great Race presented by Coker Tire. The antique vehicles are expected to arrive around 4:30 p.m. and stay until about 8 p.m., and the event will feature family-friendly activities — including food trucks and live outdoor music — that welcome local fans.  The Owensboro Times
  • The 66th annual Daviess County Lions Club Fair will take place from July 16 to 19 at the fairgrounds in Philpot, where families will see monster truck rallies, motocross races, livestock shows and carnival rides. Organizers said the four-day event—featuring a Kids Day with free entry for young children and a talent contest—offers tickets at $15 for adults and $10 for kids aged 5–12.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County received a $9,600 grant from the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels to purchase vehicles for its Meals on Wheels drivers—Executive Director David Tucker said the new fleet will boost service for seniors as part of a statewide funding effort that has helped over 4 million people.  The Owensboro Times

CRIME NEWS

  • On Saturday, June 21, a drug complaint at Owensboro Racing & Gaming led the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office to chase and arrest an Owensboro man at 9 a.m. near the 400 block of Wrights Landing Road after he was found using methamphetamine in his vehicle and carrying multiple felony warrants—he now faces charges including resisting arrest, wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading, reckless driving, and drug-related offenses.  The Owensboro Times
  • A man allegedly using meth outside Owensboro Racing & Gaming led police on a high-speed chase reaching nearly 100 mph—nearly striking several vehicles—before his car broke down near the 600 block of West Highland Avenue and he was arrested on multiple charges after officers recovered meth and drug paraphernalia.  14 News

  • Visitors of all ages enjoyed the WKBG Daylily Festival at Western Kentucky Botanical Garden this week — the event featured blooming flowers, live music, and family-friendly activities that brought a vibrant setting to the community.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Owensboro Bombers beat Alton Post 126 Sr Legion 13—1 today as Barrett Evans and Hayden Fisher combined for three hits and eight RBIs while Reed Sherrard pitched six innings with eight strikeouts. The team built its lead with an early run on a fielding error and added more runs in the fifth and sixth innings.  The Owensboro Times
  • Yesterday the Owensboro Post 9 Bombers overcame a four-run deficit to win 9-7 against Kirkwood Post 156 AAA in the first game of the John Hayes Invitational Tournament—then lost 12-10 in the second game after a late rally by Eugen Pate Post 265.  The Owensboro Times
