- ➤ The yard sale guide lists several local events including an estate sale at (1911 Windsor Ave) today from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and a garage sale at 4301 Yewells Landing East on Thursday and today, while it also covers Highway 127 Sale, known as the World’s Longest Yard Sale, running from Aug 7 until Aug 10 with bargains along its route (stretching hundreds of miles). - ➤ Over the weekend, 24 SCUBA divers played Dive-Opoly, an underwater version of Monopoly at Blue Meridian Dive Center in Owensboro to raise funds for charity. - ➤ The Owensboro Multicultural Festival returns on August 16 to the lawn of First Presbyterian Church to celebrate our community’s diverse cultures through music, food and art. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will begin with a joint performance by Owensboro High School and Daviess County High School choirs—followed by the People’s Parade and more than 50 booths highlighting global exhibits. - ➤ The Kentucky Sound Stage and West Kentucky Film Commission will host an immersive open house on Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m. at 5333 Frederica Street to give visitors a behind-the-scenes look at film and TV production — with tours of standing sets, an LED wall in action, and expert guidance on media careers. - ➤ Gov. Andy Beshear launched a new website — stopscams.ky.gov — to help Kentuckians spot and report online scams, following a FBI report that showed residents were losing over $74 million a year. 14 News
- ➤ The Daviess County Fiscal Court will lower the real property tax rate from 12.9 to 12.2 cents per $100 of assessed value for 2025 — the largest cut in over a decade. County Treasurer Jordan Johnson said the change maintains similar revenue due to rising property values while all other tax rates will stay the same. The Owensboro Times
